Carter is 8 Months!

It is that time again! Carter is 8 months old today! The months keep going by faster. He has changed so much in the past month. We are really starting to be able to see his personality. He is curious, observant, determined, happy and very loving. He is just perfect! Here are the latest things he is up to.

  • Carter is officially a crawler! No more rolling for him! He has now mastered crawling on his hand and knees and is actually very fast! I have seen him eye something across the room and take off after it. Just this morning he spotted Abbie’s straw water cup on the floor and speed crawled after it. When Abbie realized what he was after, she took off running for it. It was hilarious to see them racing to the cup! The other day he actually managed to get his hands on her water bottle and was drinking from it! Of course, with Carter crawling we have re-entered the baby proofing stage. How easily you forget these things! He goes straight for any cord on the floor. Everything is unplugged. He also loves going after shoes and knows just where everyone keeps their shoes in the house. When he goes to one of the regular spots and the shoes aren’t there he looks confused! He can also push himself back to a sitting position. Just recently he has started pulling himself up on things. He will be walking in no time! He is growing up way too fast.
  • Carter is a much better eater now. He no longer takes hours to finish a bottle. He can easily finish his bottle in 10-15 minutes. He is eating a variety of baby food. He eats pears, apples, mangos, sweet potatoes, squash, green beans, peas, vegetable turkey dinner and apple-sweet potato. He doesn’t love everything we give him, but will still eat it. (I remember Abbie refused to even open her mouth for green beans!) He still loves Cheerios! He gets excited when he sees us get the big, yellow box out of the pantry! He also wants anything that he sees us eating. Today Abbie had a pretzel in her hand right next to him and he was trying to grab it out of her hand!
  • Carter is still sleeping through the night. Hooray! He also still naps twice a day. His naps are getting shorter as he is getting older. He still usually sleeps about and hour to an hour and a half.
  • Carter loves to swim! He is really enjoying his swim class. He splashes in the water the entire 30 minutes! I have to stand far away from the other babies and moms because I feel bad he is splashing so much! He moves his arms and kicks his legs in the water and is fine putting his head under. We are both having a great time!
  • Carter loves his big sisters. He crawls after Abbie and Bailey all the time. He loves crawling up behind Bailey and surprising her. She loves licking him. They are so sweet together! Of course, he still loves Abbie. She is constant entertainment for him!
  • Carter is constantly moving and very independent. He tries to roll off the changing table, wiggle out of his carseat, and get out of my arms when I am holding him. He would much rather be on the floor exploring!

I know the next four months are going to go by so quickly! Before we know it he will be one year old. I am so excited for all the changes and things he is doing now. I also miss by newborn baby though!

Here are some pictures I took today. It is impossible to get him to sit still so they are all action shots!IMG_5187n IMG_5169n IMG_5173n IMG_5174n IMG_5176n IMG_5178n IMG_5180n IMG_5181n
