Happy Halloween!

We are all worn out in the Schmitt home from a fun Halloween night! We started out our big night by eating Chick-Fil-A a little early. We had to make time to put on our costumes and head outside for some trick-or-treating fun!

This was really the first year that Abbie actually understood most of what was going on. She was very excited about wearing her fairy princess costume. She was also excited to ring doorbells and say “trick or treat”. She was a little shy when people came to the door (and even said she was being shy…silly) but still worked up enough courage to say “trick or treat” and then thank them for her candy. She loved collecting candy and even took an inventory of her goods during a quick break on the sidewalk. She went through saying “candy, chocolate, chocolate, lollipop, etc.” as she pulled each one out of her bag. It was so funny!

Carter seemed amazed by his first Halloween! He did very well in his costume and made the cutest little pumpkin! I was so surprised to see that he actually left his hat on. He loved watching Abbie go to each of the houses. He really just loved being outside and seeing all the action of Halloween night.

Before we headed inside, we decided to take a walk down to the end of our street to see the house that has the huge display of spooky decorations. The kids rode together in the wagon for the very first time! They both LOVED it! Carter held on to the sides and looked around the whole time. He didn’t make a peep the whole night! He was just taking everything in! Abbie thought it was so much fun to be riding with her little brother. She also liked looking at all of the bigger kids costumes as they walked by. I thought for sure she would want to get out of the wagon and walk halfway down the street but she was happy to ride in the wagon the whole time. We looked at the spooky house and then walked home for one last stop to trick or treat.

When we came inside it was time to try to get the two of them bathed and ready for bed while still managing to hand out candy. It was not easy! Abbie had one bag of M&Ms before she went to bed. I managed to hide her bag of candy while she was distracted. Hopefully she forgets about it by tomorrow! She was a little confused when kids came to our door. She thought they were bringing candy to her! So funny! They were both worn out from their big night and are now sound asleep.

We had a really wonderful Halloween! It was so fun celebrating our first big holiday as a family of four. For a minute as I was pulling them in their cute little costumes riding in their little red wagon, I couldn’t believe that I had two perfect little children. It is so fun experiencing the fun of Halloween through their eyes. Steve and I sure are blessed!
