Playgroup Visits the Pumpkin Patch!

This morning playgroup made our annual visit to the Big Orange Pumpkin Farm! It was a beautiful morning, sunny and in the high 60s when we arrived. The pumpkin patch is only about 25 minutes north of us but completely in farm country! We kept passing cows and horses to which Abbie would shout moo and neigh "knee". I love visiting this pumpkin patch because there are lots of activities to do. It has all sorts of animals to feed (cows, goats, sheep, etc.), a lengthy hay ride, area with pumpkins to take pictures, and then, of course, the big pumpkin patch!

We fed the animals when we first arrived. Well actually, Mommy fed the animals! Abbie enjoyed looking at the animals and watching me feed them but did not want to get too close! The animal that scared her the most was a cat that kept walking towards her! I don't blame her, I don't like cats either. Here she is looking at the animals with Griffin and Emily.

Next, we rode the hay ride. We sat in a trailer with hay pulled by a big green tractor! Abbie was a little unsure at first about sitting on the hay but warmed up quickly. The hay ride took us all around the pumpkin patch and past a pond and a small chapel on the property. We even went under the longest goat bridge in Texas, or so the sign said! It just happened to have a happy goat up there. Afterward, we attempted to take some pictures!

After the hay ride, we moved on to more picture-taking with the pumpkins. Abbie was too busy looking around at everything to take pictures!
We came across a small tractor that Abbie just LOVED to sit on! She pretended to turn the steering wheel. It was not easy getting her off the tractor!

Finally, it was on to the pumpkin patch! Abbie enjoyed running up and down the field. However, she was not that into the pumpkins. Mommy ended up having to pick out her pumpkin to take home.
We both had a great time at the pumpkin patch and were very tired when we were done! It took a lot of toe-tickling on the drive home to keep Abbie awake! We put her pumpkin on the front porch as soon as we got home. Now she is taking a much needed nap. It has been one hour and 20 minutes which is almost a record for her! Daddy, can we move to a farm to tire her out every day?
