Our Trip To Omaha: Day Five

This morning the kids had fun playing outside while I packed us up. Fortunately, most of their stuff stayed in their room so it was not too hard to find. Abbie and Carter feel the need to bring just about everything on trips with them! They bring babies/stuffed animals, books, toys, jewelry, etc. Trying to make sure I collect everything and get it into a suitcase is not easy. Not to mention packing up their sound machine, video monitor, air mattress, clothes, toiletries, cups, diapers, wipes,… Traveling with two small children is not easy!

We ate lunch and then headed over to Great Grandma and Grandpa’s house to say our goodbyes. We were sad to say goodbye and are already looking forward to our next visit.

Next, Aunt Bev drove us to the airport for our flight home. We want to say a BIG thank you to Aunt Bev and Uncle Gene for letting us stay (or take over) their house for our visit!

We flew from Omaha to Denver, where we had a lay over around dinner time. We ate dinner at McDonald’s and then let the kids run off some energy at our gate before our next flight home. Abbie was in a picture posing mood while Carter wanted nothing to do with the camera and was just interested in watching the planes outside.

Our flight home was VERY bumpy at first. We experienced lots of bumps and even some pretty big drops which were not very much fun. Thankfully, things smoothed out for the rest of the ride home. Carter slept the entire flight with his head resting on Mimi’s lap. Abbie was sitting next to me in the row in front of Mimi and Carter and refused to go to sleep. She kept talking to the nice older lady sitting next to her, who happened to be a children's’ speech therapist and told me, after Abbie finally fell asleep, that she had no problem with her speech. Ha, not chatty Abbie! She finally fell asleep for about the last 45 minutes of the flight. She was sleeping so soundly that I could not even wake her when the lights turned on and everyone was getting off the plane! Stephen met us at baggage claim and we all headed home for some much needed rest after our big trip to Omaha!
