A Surprise Visit!

Mimi and Grampy, or BeeBee as Abbie is calling him these days, came to visit us on Sunday for an unplanned visit thanks to Hurricane Ike! My parents and grandparents live in Clear Lake, which was under a mandatory evacuation order. Luckily, both had places to stay. My parents went to stay with very kind friends in Katy (thanks Kolpins!) and my grandparents went to stay with family in Austin. By Sunday when it looked as if the power would not be back on at their house for a while, my parents decided to head up here to stay with us! We were all very excited to see them!

My parents were able to go back to check on their house before they came up, and there was very minimal damage! They were very relieved and were able to have an as worry-free stay with us as possible.

Grampy went with Abbie and I to her Gymboree class on Monday morning. She loved having him there and was showing off for him!

Mimi and Grampy also spent lots of time playing with Abbie. It was so nice because she was thoroughly worn out by nap time! Mimi also helped with applesauce and bath duties. Thank you Mimi and Grampy! I know how much Abbie loves spending time with you!

Before they headed back on Tuesday morning, Mimi and Grampy were able to wish Abbie good luck for her second day of school! It must have worked because there were fewer tears and a report from her teachers that she had a great time!
After I dropped Abbie off at school, we loaded all of their luggage and groceries into the car. They took an ice chest full of food and about 5 bags of groceries with them since there are still no fully-functioning stores open near them. At least my parents have their power back on. We miss you Mimi and Grampy and can't wait to see you again soon!
