We ended the month on a high note at Abbie’s school today. This morning was her Boosterthon Fun Run! The school’s big fundraising event was a Fun Run where each child received pledges for the number of laps they completed. For the past few weeks, the Boosterthon people have been meeting with the kids and talking about a healthy and active lifestyle. Abbie has been very into it and talks to us about it all the time and seems to really like the people. I joked with Steve that is sounds like they have been brainwashing her! At least it is all positive information!
Of course this morning would be one of our coldest mornings of the winter so far! It was freezing out there on the field! The temperature was in the 40s and it was SO windy that it felt much colder than that. The kids still had a great time, though, and didn’t seem to be bothered by the cold. I can’t say the same for all of their spectators!
The Fun Run kicked off with music and dancing led by the Boosterthon people. Abbie loved it!
Next up was the run! The course was fairly short and included a tunnel to run through. After each lap, a volunteer would mark the back of their shirt with the number of laps completed. Abbie did a great job and ran as many laps as they would let the kids, 26! She raised a lot of money for her school!
Abbie had a lot of fans cheering her on! We were freezing but had fun anyway.
After the run the kids got to hang out for a little while and listen to the music. I always love seeing Abbie interact with her friends from school. We never miss an opportunity to go up to school and be part of her day. Way to go Abbie!
