Today we went to an Easter egg hunt with a local MOPS group. Mimi had the day off of school so she came up for the fun! Abbie is very interested in Easter this year, all holidays really. She has been reading about it in books and seen stories with an Easter theme on Dora and Max and Ruby. She was very excited to go to an egg hunt today!
The hunt was at a park right around the corner that has a playground and a big, grassy field. The kids all played on the playground while dads “hid” the eggs. Fortunately, the grassy area is up a little hill so the children couldn’t see the dads putting the eggs in the grass from down at the playground. Abbie was very curious as to where the Easter Bunny was. I told her he had hidden the eggs for us and then had gone to another playground to hide eggs for other children. She likes the idea of the Easter Bunny but does not want to come into contact with him! She is not a fan of people in costumes dressed as characters!
When it was time for the hunt, we all hiked up the big hill. Abbie knew what to do right away, and quickly collected her eggs. Carter was just happy being free to wander in the grass and ran off. Mimi eventually helped him collect some eggs. Every time he would hold his basket he would dump them all out! Both the kids had a great time!
After the egg hunt, we came home so Carter could take his morning nap. Then we all headed out for a fun lunch at La Madeline and a trip to the mall. Abbie loves shopping with Mimi and enjoys looking at the jewelry. We also stopped and treated ourselves to chocolate chip cookies! Carter loved his and had chocolate all over his face. Abbie had an Easter one, with a carrot in orange and green icing on it. She had orange icing all over her face! I am glad I had some wet wipes with me. They were both a mess. We had a wonderful Good Friday!
