Elisabeth is 10 Months!

It is hard to believe our baby is almost one year old. This has been the fastest year of my life!  It is so fun to see her little personality really coming out. She is curious, thoughtful, funny and sweet. We love our little girl more than words can say! Here are the latest things she is up to.
  • Elisabeth is now officially crawling up on her knees!  She finally figured it out.  She is also pulling up to stand at things.  She loves to stand at Carter’s train table and play with all of his toys on top.  They are no longer safe from her little hands there!  She can also take a few steps while holding on to the table or sofa, but has not really figured out walking yet.
  • On January 15th she started pointing to things that interest her.  It is really cute, most of the time.  Not so cute when she randomly points at strangers.  That is a little awkward!
  • Elisabeth’s first official word is “ma-ma”!  Hooray!  She has been saying it to me for a little while but I am going to say it officially happened on January 24th.  I finally beat out Bailey for the first word after both Abbie and Carter said “ba-ba” first for Bailey.  She says it most when she is crying “ma-ma” in her bed when I put her down for her nap and she doesn’t want to go to sleep.  She really knows how to work her mommy!
  • Elisabeth still has three bottles a day now; one in the morning, one in the afternoon and one at night. She sometimes only drinks 3 ounces and the most she drinks is 6. Hopefully it will be easy to stop the bottles when she turns one. She is eating more and more table food. She eats just about anything the big kids are eating that we can cut small enough and she can chew.  She eats chicken, chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, bowtie alfredo pasta, hamburger, ground turkey, string cheese, peas, bananas, pancakes, baby goldfish, etc.  She is actually a very good eater, as long as she can pick it up and eat it herself she will try just about anything!
  • Elisabeth is a teething mess right now!  She is getting all sorts of new teeth.  I can tell it is really bothering her.  She is just kind of grumpy and clingy, which is not her normal personality.  She has also been pulling at her ears a lot.  I even took her to the doctor thinking she might have an ear infection but she didn’t.  He said it was just her teething.  Poor thing!  She still only has two on the bottom but it feels like a molar might be working its way to the top.  On the top she has her two middle teeth and is getting the two on either side as well!  I will be so glad when we have a break in the teething!
  • She is currently in a clingy phase. She follows me all around as I am cleaning up and just wants to be held.  She is my little koala baby and is perfectly happy when she is on my hip!
  • As clingy as she can be at times, at other times she is very independent and stubborn! She hates getting her diaper changed.  I know it is because she thinks it means she is going to bed!  She is constantly trying to turn over.  It makes changing her and getting her dressed very difficult!  She is also more difficult at the big kids activities now.  The days of her just sitting in the stroller or being held while we wait are gone!  Now she wants to be down and crawling around, if she is not preoccupied in her stroller with a snack of puffs.
  • Elisabeth is waving, giving high-fives and clapping now. So cute!
She is just changing so much each week now!  It is so exciting to see each new things she figures out.  It has also made things more and more difficult now that she is so mobile!  She is in that really hard period between baby and toddler.  She still need bottles, but also eats three normal meals a day.  She still needs two naps, but is almost down to one.  I know it will only be a short time, but for now she is A LOT of work!  Keeping up with her daily, basic needs is a non-stop job!  Only two more months and our sweet baby girl will be ONE!
